Today, both of my kids have officially started school. Last week, we dropped my oldest off at first grade! He’s officially gone to school all day (I admit, I was a little relieved and excited about it!). This morning, I took my youngest to his first day of Pre-K. Summer was fun but we were all ready to move on!
I could only stand to hear “I’m bored” so many times in a week, you know?
After picking my son up from his first day last week, I noted how hungry he was. He eats lunch around 11 so by 3, he’s famished! The following day, I made sure to bring him a snack, something he would enjoy eating that would also give him a boost in energy to get his homework and chores done.
I did a little research and created a fun recipe that would help all of us in the afternoon. These Monster Chocolate Energy Bites give us the energy need and they’re delicious too. Made with the goodness of NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Powder, they pack up perfectly to take with me when I pick up the kids.
Don’t these look like fun to eat? They are little balls of goodness of energy. I love that NESQUIK® Powder has 7 essential vitamins and minerals. Plus, it has 45% less sugar than the leading chocolate syrup brand.
In addition to the NESQUIK® Powder, these Monster Chocolate Energy Bites contain oats, chia seeds, and flaxseed. My kids don’t have a clue that they are eating something so good for them! It’s my sneaky way of giving them something that’s good for them that they think is a treat!
These are so easy to whip up, you can literally put it together in about 5 minutes and they are ready in half an hour. That’s usually how much time I have from the moment I remember I need to bring the kids a snack to the time I need to be walking out the door! I also love taking these with us when we head to dance, baseball, or gymnastics. And they are great for getting me through busy mornings filled with cleaning and laundry.
Here’s what you need:
1/4 cup NESQUIK® Powder
1/2-3/4 cup Peanut Butter
1/3 cup Honey
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 cup Oats
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1/2 cup Flaxseed
1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (opt)
Mix up all the ingredients. It will be sticky!
Put the mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes. It helps keep the mixture together when you roll it up!
Roll into one inch balls. If the mixture still feels dry, add in some extra honey or peanut butter.
You can store them in an airtight container for about a week!
My kids really love these. They see the chocolate and chocolate chips and think they are eating a cookie. I haven’t corrected them on that, of course!
