I was in charge of making my sister-in-law’s birthday cake this past weekend. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to go to the store on Saturday and I had to make it with things I had on hand. I do have a good supply of cake mixes so I grabbed a chocolate cake mix and decided to make it a bundt. Once it was in the oven, however, I realized I had nothing to put on it! Oh heavens no! Anyway, I couldn’t do my usual go-to ganache because I didn’t have cream (don’t you love that word-ganache? I always feel so cool saying it like I’m a gourmet!). So, I went to my very favorite recipe site, allrecipes.com, and found this lovely chocolate glaze that tastes just like a ganache, sets up like it, and looks like it too! And it requires no cream, just sweetened condensed milk. Score! It tasted amazing, even if I didn’t get it to look as pretty as I’d like!
Easy Chocolate Glaze
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
