If you’re looking for a fun and new idea to get your girls excited for Personal Progress, try this QR Code Scavenger Hunt!
Update: I had to redo all of the values because the QR codes stopped working. Faith is done and Divine Nature. I will update as the others get finished!
I am always on the lookout for more ways to make Personal Progress more fun. QR Codes are a clever way for the girls to use their smart phones and/or the internet to complete some of their value experiences.
Basically, you can add anything to the codes. Once you have them, you can also download them from your account as a .png file to use in digital projects. Which is what I will be doing!
So how did I use them for Personal Progress? Well, this month we are focused on Faith as our value. So I chose the Faith Value Experience #5 and then created a little hunt with four of the codes. The great thing about these is that if someone doesn’t have a Smart Phone, they can still access the information by typing in the web address at the bottom. Pretty cool, right?
For the first part of the hunt, or the first code, I found a video from the Mormon Channel that talked about faith and the Atonement. For the second, I created a cute printable that I uploaded that contained the scriptures that they needed to read for the experience. Next, I found a beautiful song, “Hosanna”, from the production of “Lamb of God” (if you haven’t heard of it, look it up on YouTube because it’s amazing!) that they could listen to while they wrote their feelings in their journal. And finally, I found another video from the Youth Mormon Channel that had youth from around the world bearing their testimonies.
I showed it to the girls on Sunday and they though it was pretty cool. And, as usual, those who complete the challenge will receive a fun little goody from me!
I’m going to be doing this monthly I decided. Each monthly challenge will be an experience from the Value of the Month. That way, each girl has the opportunity to complete at least one experience each month. I think it’s always fun to have a challenge!
Here’s the handout that I gave the girls. Feel free to download this and print it out for your Young Women to give it a try. The codes are still active with the links that I put on them. Remember, if any of your girls do not have a smartphone, they can type in the address in any browser underneath each code and it will take them to the same place.
