The holidays are the best for baking and I love nothing more than grabbing out our old family recipes and bringing back the memories associated with them.
My Grandma has always been an amazing cook and she has several yummy cookie recipes that our family loves. One of those recipes is these Spritz Cookies. In fact, these are the cookies that members of the family fight over. As soon as my Dad entered her house on Christmas day, he would grab the tin filled with these gems and hoard them from the rest of us!
Spritz are buttery little goodies that melt on your tongue. You can eat a dozen before you know it! They are the perfect cookies to hand out to neighbors and friends because they package up adorably.
I promise these will become a new favorite! Be sure to grab a cookie press before you start. It’s a the tool you need to press them into these fun shapes and stock up on your favorite sprinkles.

The Best Spritz Cookies
- 1½ cup butter softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 Tbs milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp almond extract
- 3½ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the egg. Mix well. Next, add the milk and the extracts. Mix well. Add half the flour mixture and mix well. Finally, add the rest of the flour.
Set up the cookie press with your desired shape. Add dough in cookie press. Use a non-greased cookie sheet and began adding cookie dough. It generally takes a couple of clicks until the first cookie comes out. When the first pan is full of cookies, bake in 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
Decorate using piping gel and sprinkles. You can also use corn syrup to get the sprinkles to stick!
