A couple years ago, I shared a printable that I did for the Young Women when I was the Personal Progress advisor. It was a challenge I issued at the beginning of the year to especially encourage the girls to create a habit of reading their scriptures and saying their prayers.
In many of the leadership trainings and goal setting workshops I have attended, one thing is always mentioned without fail-that it takes 21 days to create a habit! So for anyone with a goal to create a new habit, if it’s done consistently for 21 days, it becomes a part of your routine and your life.
I honestly think I really started the challenge for myself. At the time, I was not doing well with scripture reading and saying my prayers. It’s a constant struggle it seems! So doing it with my girls really made it fun.
I gave them this tracker to check off the things they do each day. I also gave them space to add a couple of extra things to it. Exercise is on there because it’s usually on people’s minds when they start the new year and start new goals!
The idea is that they will be able to do everything each day for the full 21 days.
As always, I had some rewards for them. I decided to do different levels of rewards so that those who tried but didn’t reach the full 21 days would still get something for trying. For example, for completing 10 of the days, they would get a candy bar. For 15 days, they would get 2 candy bars, and for the 21 days, they would get a king size. Or something similar to that. Whatever motivates your young women! Most of ours like getting food or jewelry, but what girl doesn’t love chocolate, right?
I always check out Amazon for fun rewards, Dollar Tree, or the Dollar Spot at Target (they have some really cute things this time of year like socks!).
