I enjoy involving my kids in planning and preparing for their birthday parties. It revs up the excitement for them and gives them ownership in it when their friends and family come over. I love seeing the look of pride on their faces when they show off what they helped me make.
These cookies were a fun addition to my son’s Big Hero 6 birthday party. For other ideas, check out our Baymax Marshmallows, birthday printables, and a roundup of other great ideas I found.
If you have a fan of Baymax, these would be a fun afternoon activity or a sweet surprise!
To make these, you need:
One recipe for lemon sugar cookies
One recipe for the best sugar cookie icing
Lemon sugar cookies are our very favorite cookies to make. They are an old family recipe and make the softest cookies. The lemon isn’t overpowering and gives them a little something different from regular sugar cookies. The icing I use actually dries to a nice hard glaze like finish. This makes them easy to transport because the icing doesn’t get everywhere and easier to decorate. I love it!!
All you need to do is use the oval cookie cutter to cut out the dough and bake. The icing already turns out white so you don’t need any food coloring. Once the cookies have cooled, you can ice the cookies. The best way to do this is to dunk the top of the cookie lightly in the icing and use a knife to spread or remove any excess. It’s faster and easier. Once they are frosted, leave them out for an hour or so and the icing will harden. It only hardens on the top like a glaze, while the middle of the icing stays soft.
Once it’s set, you can decorate. These were very easy to do. Using the black gel, I made two dots and connected them with a line.
That’s it! You have bakery quality cookies ready for your own Big Hero 6 party or just for fun.
And if you’re thinking about taking your kids to meet Baymax in person…
… you need to plan your family with Get Away Today. They are THE experts, they have been doing for 25 years, in all thing Disney and can help you create the perfect vacation for you and your family. My favorite thing about them is that they have a great Layaway Plan. You only have to put $125 down at the time of booking and then have until 2 weeks before you travel to complete the payments. It makes these vacations so doable! And here’s a fun video of the Hiro and Baymax Meet N’ Greet. We are going in a few months and my kids are going to go crazy when they meet Baymax!
