This was another fun activity that was a part of our Big Hero 6 birthday party for my little boy. Earlier this week, I shared Baymax cookies, printables, and a roundup of other great ideas for a similar party.
In the movie, one of the characters says that the robot, Baymax, looks like a walking marshmallow. So, of course, when I thought of activities we could do, it had to include marshmallows. And what kid doesn’t love having a reason to play with and eat marshmallows?
These were really easy to make and gave the kids some freedom to create their own faces too. Here’s what you need:
Toothpicks
Heart marshmallows (you can use regular ones too but these make it easier)
Scissors
And here’s how to make them:
Cut the heart marshmallows in half. If you don’t have heart marshmallows, you can shape them with scissors. These will be the arms.
Take one of the large marshmallows and cut the top 1/4 of it off. This will create the head and the legs. Color the eyes and the smaller piece to create the face for Baymax with one of the Food Writing Markers.
Grab another marshmallow and put a toothpick through the middle so that part of the toothpick sticks out the top and bottom. Take the 1/4 piece (the head) and slide it on the top portion of the toothpick. Next, add another toothpick horizontally through the body so that it sticks out either side.
Add the arms to the side of the body using the toothpick you just inserted. You can angle the toothpicks into the arms so they don’t stick out or cut the ends off if any of it does stick out.
Finally, add the legs to the bottom portion of the toothpick you inserted in the body. The legs are the 3/4 piece of marshmallow you cut. Use the scissors to cut a small triangle piece out of the bottom to separate the legs. You can also cut fingers into the arms if you’d like.
That’s all there is to it. It comes together quickly. You can help the kids piece it together and man the scissors for them. Our kiddos liked drawing the faces on the best! And then enjoyed eating them.
I bought the rest of our decorations and partyware from Birthday Express. They have some great new Big Hero 6 items.
If you are planning on taking your kids to meet Baymax in person, yes they have Baymax and Hiro at a Meet N Greet!, you need to plan your family with Get Away Today. They are THE experts, they have been doing for 25 years, in all thing Disney and can help you create the perfect vacation for you and your family. My favorite thing about them is that they have a great Layaway Plan. You only have to put $125 down at the time of booking and then have until 2 weeks before you travel to complete the payments. It makes these vacations so doable! And here’s a fun video of the Hiro and Baymax Meet N’ Greet. We are going in a few months and my kids are going to go crazy when they meet Baymax!
