With the new year, I wanted to get our Personal Progress goals for my young women off to a good start. I thought and thought about what kind of challenge I would do this month, and went back to some of my leadership training roots.
A lot of research has shown that to create a habit, it takes 21 days of consistency. I personally need to get back on track with my personal scripture study and morning prayers, and decided to do a 21 day challenge for myself. And then I thought, “Why not extend it to the girls?”
Last week, I printed off these calendars, 21 boxes for them to mark off each day. It’s always so much easier to check things off when you’re working on a goal! Some of the leaders are also doing the challenge and I’ve thought about extending it to the Relief Society.
I’m not sure what I will do for the prizes this time but I will update it here when I decide.
I am currently planning a brunch towards the end of the month and the end of the challenge for everyone. We have a lovely volunteer in our ward who signed up to teach goal setting and planning when I passed around a teacher sign up in relief society for our monthly personal progress workshops. I thought it would be fun to have a little brunch and teach the girls more about setting their goals. Then, they can also set goals for the year with Personal Progress too and I’m going to use that morning to “interview” them and get my paperwork caught up.
I’m working on printables for the brunch and will post them here. I’ll have another post with pictures from the brunch. The great thing is, you can really do the 21 day challenge anytime!
Here is the printable I created for my girls for our “Come Unto Christ” challenge. I’m also including a blank one too. I told my girls they didn’t have to do all of them, they could just pick at least one thing they wanted to do. Also, when they complete it, they will be able to pass some value experiences. It’s a win-win!
I’d love to hear if you try this. It’s always fun to see how things work for others too! And stay tuned for the brunch activity and printables.
