Growing up, we always had a store of Coca-Cola products in our home. We drank them for parties and special events, but they were also used for every day occasions. I remember my Grandpa picking me up after a long day at school to drive me to work and handing me a snack and a bottle of Diet Coke. For whatever reason, no matter what had happened that day or what was to come, those moments riding in his car and enjoying my drink are some of the most precious memories I have. And that’s why I’m so thrilled that Coca-Cola has come out with uniquely packaged Diet Coke bottles that are beautiful and personal. No two bottles are the same, so each bottle is as unique as the people that drink from it, and they are only available for a limited time so grab them while you can! I love it because I used the bottles to create decor pieces for our home that remind me of those rides with Grandpa whenever I see them. Here’s my tutorial to create your own Diet Coke Bottle Lamps.
First, here’s what you need. I did two different sized lamps, small and mini, and they each had their own parts. You can find lamp shades almost anywhere but I used some that I had at my home.
SUPPLIES (FOR SMALL LAMP)
1 Diet Coke Bottle
1 Make A Lamp Kit
1 Circular Wood Base
Small Lamp Shade
Paint
E6000 Glue
SUPPLIES (FOR MINI LAMP)
1 Diet Coke Bottle
1 C7 Light Accessory
1 Circular Wood Base
1 Mini Lamp Shade
Paint
E6000 Glue
STEP 1:
Clean your bottle and make sure that it’s empty.
STEP 2:
Put your Make A Lamp Kit together if you are making the small lamp.
STEP 3:
Paint your circular base. Be sure to do a few coats to give it a nice solid look. You can also add interest by painting a darker color first and then adding a light color over the top. Sand it a little when it’s dry and the dark color will show through, giving it a vintage look!
STEP 4:
Glue your bottle to the base once the paint is dry with E6000 glue.
If you’re making the mini lamp, fit the C7 light accessory into the top of the bottle and push it down as much as possible. Add the E6000 glue around it to anchor it more in the bottle. The chord prevents it from going down any further so you willl need to glue to keep the light in place.
STEP 5:
Let the glue dry for a couple of hours.
STEP 6:
For the small lamp, insert the Make A Lamp Kit into the bottle.
STEP 7:
Screw in the lightbulb and place the lampshade over your lamp base.
STEP 8:
Plug it in and enjoy your unique room accessory!
I am so happy with how these lamps turned out. They fit perfectly in my office and I’m giving one away to my mom as a fun gift!
