Baseball runs in our blood, as well as our love of fun treats. Which is why it is no surprise that my oldest loves the game. His little brother is showing an interest as well and holds his own when they play outside with Daddy. At my older son’s practices, my little one and I play catch together. When we arrive at the games, we love cheering his big brother on. My favorite part of each game comes at the end. It is hilarious to watch the kids, after their game, running like little cheetahs towards their end reward, a treat! Each family takes a turn bringing the team something, and my son is very particular about what we choose. That’s why we are excited to be partnering with Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® who sent us a box of treats to use for my son’s team.
As a child, I grew up going to my younger brother’s baseball games. It was honestly one of my favorite activities. My grandparents would come out on those Saturday mornings, loaded with sugary treats and our family favorite soda. I loved running to the snack shack, playing catch with my younger siblings, and cheering my heart out while watching my brother’s team play. Both of my sisters later played softball, including making it on the high school team and playing until graduation.
I decided to get creative and made a fun printable that’s available for download at the end of the post. We are so grateful for the opportunity he has to play and learn such an amazing game. All of the parents and kids have been great, learning the kids’ names and cheering our team. We have been especially grateful for the coach and his assistants. They really go the extra mile! Our season really has been a “home run” so far.
What you need to make your own fun treats:
1-2 boxes of Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® (depending on the size of your team)
printables, cut out
tape
plastic bags or 5×7 photo sleeve bags (I used the latter)
Directions:
Print printables, preferrably on cardstock. This will help it hold up when you attach the treat. Cut the pieces out. Tape the “Home Run base” to each Rice Krispies Treat, centering it. Tape the Rice Krispies Treat to the bottom portion of the “Baseball Diamond” printable, with it over the Home plate portion. If you’d like, place the treat in a plastic bag. I used 5×7 photo sleeve bags that fold over on the top and are self-adhering. You could also use a clear gift bag and tie with twine, ribbon, or string at the top. Do the same thing for all of the Rice Krispies Treats. Hand out to excited teammates, coaches, and don’t forget the Team Mom!
There is nothing sweeter than seeing my son out playing, learning, and creating relationships. Baseball teaches so many great skills, including coordination, endurance, patience, team work, the importance of practice, and faith in themselves. It’s a family event as well, from playing catch with Daddy, to hearing the family cheering in the stands.
That’s why I’m so excited about the opportunity Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® is giving to one lucky winner who will have the chance to create the memory of a lifetime. They have teamed up with Cal Ripken, who will play catch during the 2015 MLB All-Star Week with a lucky fan! All you need to do is pick up a box of specially marked boxes of Rice Krispies Treats® and enter the promotion code. Also, until April 30, 2015, Kellogg’s will be looking for another fan to hang out with Cal during All-Star Week. Enter to win by tweeting a photo of you and your family enjoying Rice Krispies Treats using hashtag #GetKreativeSweeps and Kellogg’s will select a winner.
And while not everyone can win a chance to play with Cal Ripken, Rice Krispies Treats® has plenty of inspiration to help your family to #GetKreative with unique and fun treat creations to spark imagination year-round.
