Create a keepsake for Christmas this year. Ask your parents and grandparents to share some memories with your family that will be cherished for generations to come using this Parent Gift Book Printable!
I don’t know about you but sometimes buying things for my parents isn’t easy. And the same goes for grandparents. Every year, it’s the same story. “Don’t buy me anything, I just want time with you!” But, the thing is, we want to give them gifts, right?
But now that I’m a parent, I understand where they are coming from. I love spending good, quality time with my kids. And even more? I treasure the handwritten notes and pictures that they draw for me. I still have cards and notes from my own grandparents and loved ones that mean the world to me now that they are gone.
It’s reassuring to hear that you are doing okay as a parent. To hear thoughts, memories, and reasons why something you did may have led to your childrens’ happiness.
As part of the #LightTheWorld from Mormon.org, I decided to create a printable that you can use as a special gift to let your parents and grandparents know how you feel about them. There are 7 pages with places to share favorite memories, attributes you appreciate in them, gratitude, and love. It’s a Parent gift book that will be from the heart and I can guarantee it will become a treasure to your parents and grandparents.
All you need to do is print off the Parent Gift Book download, cut them in half, and write from your heart. You can staple the book together or have it bound at a copy and print shop. The download includes 4 pages with 8 half pages (a cover and 7 journaling places). For added durablity, you can have them printed on cardstock or, after you print and write your thoughts, laminate the pages so they last.
I lost my Grandma at the beginning of the year and, rigtht before she died, I planned on calling her one last time to let her know how much I loved and appreciate her. We knew she wouldn’t last much longer and I was anxious to make the phone call. But I decided to wait just a couple of more hours until I picked up my oldest from Kindergarten so he could talk to her too. On the way to pick him up, my mom called me and let me know that she had passed. I missed my chance by just one hour.
I hope she passed knowing how much we loved and cared for. Because of my belief in heaven and eternal families, I know I will have the opportunity again. But I still wish I hadn’t procrastinated. It’s so important to tell your loved ones what they mean to you while you can. And, just as Jesus Christ honored His parents, telling yours what they mean to you is a way for you to honor them too.
In addition, there are these beautiful cards designed by Melissa Esplin. They are the perfect card to accompany your book and I love the notecards for the kids to use! They are absolutely gorgeous. You can find them at her website, MelissaEsplin.com. You can also find more great ideas to Light The World at Lolly Jane.
I’d love to hear how you used the download or how you are helping to #LightTheWorld this Christmas. Use the hashtag to spread the joy!
