I love St Patrick’s Day! It is such a fun little holiday, especially having kids. Talking about leprachauns, rainbows, and pots of gold has definitely made my kids excited. Now that March is here, we’ve begun our fun with all things green and shamrocks by making some fun treats.
I made these little Shamrock Pretzels a couple of years ago for the young women in my church and created a printable for it. This year, I thought it would be fun to share with neighbors and friends. They look so cute tied up with ribbon and with a fun little Irish saying on the tag. And any treat with pretzels and chocolate is a winner!
Let’s get started making some Shamrock Pretzels!
Supplies:
1 bag regular sized pretzels
Green M&M’s (you can buy a regular bag and then pick out the greens and eat the rest!)
1 bag Hershey’s chocolate kisses
Cellophane bags (found mine at Michaels)
Black and white straws
Green ribbon
Printable, cut and with one hole punched in the corner
Directions:
Take three pretzels and put them together to make a shamrock shape. Get them as close together as you can.
Add a chocolate kiss to the center of each shamrock. Pop into 200 degree oven for a few minutes until the chocolate is soft.
Get your stems ready. You can use whatever you have on hand, including pretzel rods. I liked how the black and white straws looked sot that’s what I used. I cut mine into thirds but the length is entirely up to you! You can find some fun paper straws on Amazon!
Once the chocolate is soft, pull the pan out of the oven. Push the end of each straw into the soft chocolate middle. Add a green M&M to the top and “squish” it down!Finish all of the them this way. Pop the tray into the freezer to let them get nice and set.
Once they are nice and firm, you can add the details. I used candy cellophane bags from Michaels but they are also available on Amazon. Insert one shamrock into each back and tie it with some fun green ribbon. Add the printable and you’re ready to go! These would be great as favors for a party or to hand out to your favorite girlfriends (lucky them!)
The download says ” Print it on cardstock or, for better results, on Premium Presentation Paper (my favorite!).
