I am so excited to be joining forces with other bloggers to teach our kids about the world through the fun of the World Cup. Each day that our team plays, we will be posting fun recipes, projects, and other activities relating to our chosen country. And guess what my country was?
Drumroll please….
Switzerland!!!!
I have never studied much about Switzerland and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with you, along with some fun projects and recipes you can do with your kids. Plus, it turns out, I have ancestors from Switzerland. I’ll be sharing more about them too!
Here are some facts about “my” team.
The best Switzerland has done in the FIFA World Cup was making it to the quarter-finals in 1934, 1938, and 1954. Another record they hold came in 2010 when they set the record for the longest consecutive minutes (74) without conceding a goal. They are currently ranked 6th so here’s hoping they do better the round! They are predicted to win their group (Group E) and have been called “the most underrated team in Europe”. Some have even given reasons why they think Switzerland will go all the way. Woot, woot!
I love that we can teach children about the world and through a fun event like soccer. I’m ready to learn some things myself too-I never played soccer and have never followed it like I have been this year. I guess that comes from having a little guy who plays! Let’s go Switzerland! Their first match is on Sunday.
Be sure to follow our World Cup For Kids Pinterest Board so you can follow all of the posts as different countries play. Also, there is a great World Cup For Kids Printables pack to use with your kids.
To celebrate the excitement of the World Cup, I have discounted one of my most popular prints, “Good, Better, Best”. Just use code “WorldCup” and get it for $2.50.
