Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg well-beaten
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter softened

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar to the yeast. Melt butter and stir the milk into the butter. Add egg. Mix in yeast/sugar mixture. Sitr in enough flour to make a stiff dough. Knead 5-7 minutes on floured surface (when I'm lazy, I use my Kitchenaid mixer).Place in a greased bowl and put in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes. Punch dough down. Roll dough out into a circle about 1/2" thick. Spread the softened butter on dough. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, split dough into 8-12 wedges. Roll wedges beginning at widest end to smallest end to make a crescent shape. Put on a greased cookie sheet and cover. Let rise in warm place for 30 minutes.
  2. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush more butter over the tops while they are still warm.
