We recently had a Young Women’s missionary night in our ward for Personal Progress. I wanted to make it exciting and extra fun for our girls, so I created this mission plaque board. Each girl had their picture with their favorite scripture and the mission to which they were “called” for our activity.
Making this does entail some knowledge with Photoshop or an editing program that allows you to use layers. I am including a template for the plaques themselves, though the country outlines are not there. I put a world outline on there instead. In all honesty, getting the outlines for the countries took quite a bit of time and needs more than just a basic knowledge of Photoshop.
Before I start, I want to apologize for the picture quality! I nearly forgot to take pictures of this and I only had my phone with me at the time. The lighting was terrible too, but it’s better than nothing!
First, you need the supplies. I grabbed a black presentation board from Michaels. It was perfect for this! Next, I found some cute graphics online that I printed off and cut out to include on the board. Using my Silhouette Machine, I cut out some banners from some scrapbook paper I had in my scrap bins. The banner added some extra fun!
Now, on to creating the plaques themselves. I took pictures of the girls at an activity the week before this one. For anyone I didn’t have pictures for, I tried my best to get them off of Facebook or from parents. And there were some girls I had no luck with so they had a blank spot for their picture. It can be hard to track down some of the busier girls and I only had a couple like that. I also had them write down their favorite scripture to include on their plaques just like the missionaries do when they are serving.
Here’s a basic video of how to use the templates from You Tube if you need some help putting them together. It’s instructions for a quick page but it’s the same concept.
