The holidays can be crazy trying to prepare gifts, dishes for parties, and worrying about getting to and from all of the activities and festivities. When you have a party to plan, or to need to bring a dish, the stress of wondering about specific diet requirements for the guests can really put the stress level over the top. At least it does for me! I have many friends and family who are on diets for health reasons or because they are more dedicated than I am and actually want to lose weight. In any case, trying to find a holiday recipe that is dairy-free can be especially difficult. But I’ve helped you out today with a yummy dip to add to your holiday table that will have all of your guests enjoying themselves, even those not on a diet. It’s a holiday spin on the classic yogurt fruit dip and it uses Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt.
Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt is the perfect dairy-free alternative to add to any yogurt dip. Plus, Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt includes 6 grams of soy protein per serving and it’s free of dairy, cholesterol, and and artificial colors and flavors. It’s smooth and creamy too. Silk Yogurt is the perfect everyday yogurt for your life!
This recipe for Dairy-Free Eggnog Fruit Dip can be made in under ten minutes. And if you’ve never used tofu before, don’t worry. I hadn’t either until recently and it’s much easier to use than I ever thought. Plus, it’s tasteless and doesn’t take or add any flavor so you have control. I found all of the ingredients for this dip at Walmart, including the Silk Dairy-Free Vanilla Yogurt. You can find it in the yogurt section of the dairy case.
Here’s what you need:
2 containers Silk Dairy-Free Vanilla Yogurt
8 oz softened tofu, drained
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup granola
(Opt. 1/2 tsp rum flavoring-we don’t like this flavor so I didn’t add it)
Before you begin, you will need to drain the tofu. It’s really moist. I put a few paper towels underneath it and over the top and used a rolling pin to wring it out. It worked well! This is what it will look like. As I mentioned, tofu doesn’t really have any flavor so this will add to the texture and the nutrition of the dip.
Once the tofu is ready, combine it with the other ingredients. Because the recipe uses the Silk Dairy-Free Vanilla Yogurt, you don’t need to add much vanilla. The 1/4 tsp should be plenty but you can always add more to taste. I thought it was plenty.
Mix it all up really well. Mix in the granola when it’s ready. The granola gives it more texture and flavor.
Once you’re done, serve it or refrigerate it until your party. Serve it with wafers or fresh fruit. It’s absolutley delicious with sliced apples or bananas!
