I love We R Memory Keepers and I was so excited when they asked if I would be a guest designer for them! Once I received my package (happy day!), my mind started whirling through the possibilities. They gave me some product from their “Noted” line-super cute, with banners, lined paper, fun colors, and a super cute, lined, sparkly alpha chipboard letter set. I wanted/needed to do something for our baby’s room. His room didn’t get decorated because he’ll be moving in with his brother if/when we have a girl. Anyway, the decor needed to be transportable. We have had this black, matted frame that holds three 7×5″ pictures in that room since we moved in. I always thought I might do something with it someday but never got around to it, not even to change the pictures out.
It was perfect! Because black is so boring, and didn’t match the product so well, I spray painted it this beautiful gray color. It ended up being glossy and adhering very well. I loved it! Next, I took the glass out and will find some other use for it. I then removed the photo mat. Because of its length, one sheet of 12×12″ paper wouldn’t fit. And rather than doing two sheets, I opted for three to give it some interest. I traced and cut, then used wood glue (I prefer it over modge podge now, but don’t tell anyone!) to adhere it to the mat. I inked the edges to distress it a little.
Next, I added a 7×5″ piece of sheet metal to the bottom slot. I thought it would be fun to have a little magnet board on the bottom. I happened to have this on hand already cut but sheet metal is easy to find at Lowe’s or Home Depot. I did cover the sheet metal with more paper and then used the wood glue to adhere it to the back of the photo mat.
With that done, I just needed to add some embellishments. I cut out little banner shapes from two sheets of the patterned paper and hot glued them to some gray baker’s twin. I created two little pinwheels and then added some of the alphas and one of the tags to it as well. I inked all of them too. I also cut some words and shapes out of the patterned paper.
I needed some cute magnets and decided to use two bottle caps and one mini clothespin for them. For the bottle caps, I cut out some paper, glued them in the middle, and used my dimensional magic glue on the top to add some fun and depth. To each of them, I hot glued a magnet and then added a chipboard number. Finally, I added our little guy’s name at the bottom with the chipboard letters.
The last step was to add the photos and put the mat back in the frame. Voila! A fun, different, and easy frame to have in his room. I love that we can change the photos out and that the frame now enhances the pictures with fun, rather than just a black, boring picture frame. I saw more of these frames at Mitchael’s and I’m planning to grab another for our other son’s room. Thank you We R Memory Keepers for giving me the opportunity to work with your amazing products!
