It seems that the primary kids are the ones who get the fun packets and activities for conference and the youth get left to their own devices. I have enjoyed putting together the Young Women Personal Progress General Conference Packets which is why I couldn’t help but create my 5th one!
I have always found that I listen so much better when I have something to do with my hands and when I have something particular I’m trying to learn or understand. The conference packets do just that and give the girls incentive to complete the packets.
In our ward, I have always had some fun treats and rewards for those who complete the challenges that I give them. You can have different levels of incentive, depending on what they complete or just have an overall treat for all who do something. It’s up to you and your leaders to fit what you need for your ward.
This packet has a fun twist-it’s a scratch-off game that includes a secret phrase.
Here’s how it works:
Before conference begins, the girls will need to choose one square to scratch off. As conference begins, they will need to answer the questions and try to apply what they hear in the talks that will apply to those questions (they can always add more later too). Once they finish a square, they choose another to scratch off.
Each square also contains a letter that is a part of the secret phrase. It answers the question, “What do we need to stay strong in today’s world?” There is one letter already given. The answer is “Our Integrity”.
My plan is to have something special for those who can find the secret phrase because it means they completed all of the squares.
The scratch off part couldn’t be easier. I have the instructions in the packet, along with extra journal pages.
The point of these packets is to get the girls thinking about different aspects of their value experiences. Many of them will get them on the road to completing the experiences and some will be finished after conference, as long as they journal it.
