Every year, “The Big Game” falls on around a special time for my family. Both my brother and I have birthdays the first week in February and, because we have family dinners on Sunday, we usually end up sharing our birthday celebrations with millions of fans across the country! No one else knows we are celebrating a birthday, but we still pretend.
I love party food because it is perfect for my birthday dinner and “The Big Game”. I don’t like to make a big fuss, or make anyone slave in the kitchen, so our recipes are simple. This year, we decided to keep it even more simple and serve a side of Crockpot Parmesan Chicken Wings with our Red Baron Brick Oven Pizza! My favorite is the Classic Crust Special Deluxe.
Walmart has a great selection of Red Baron pizzas. You can find one for everyone at your party, including the littlest of eaters (my boys can be so picky but they love the Pepperoni!)
I love how fresh the ingredients taste. These pizzas remind me of my Mom’s homemade pizzas!
To go along with the pizza, I picked up my favorite Hershey’s Creme Pie by Edwards. It’s so yummy, just as good as homemade, and you don’t have to spend anytime making it! Just thaw it and you’re ready to go.
With dessert and the main meal all ready to go, we needed one more necessity for our Big Game Party. It really isn’t a party without a side of chicken wings! I wanted to do something different this year and add in some new flavors that we don’t normally have with our wings.
These Crockpot Parmesan Chicken Wings are packed full of flavor! Plus, because they cook in the crockpot, you don’t have to slave over the stove or oven. You can still enjoy the game too and be the hero! My kids, my husband, and the rest of our family gobbled these babies up. My six-year-old son even made sure I knew to include this in my weekly recipe file.
They couldn’t be more simple to make.
First, throw your bag of frozen wings or drummettes in the crockpot (my bag had both and I picked this up from Walmart too). Let them cook for a couple of hours until they are thawed.
Next, season them with the cumin and rosemary. The measurements I include in the recipe are really just guides. You can add as much or as little as you like. I’m a big fan of cumin so I was a little generous!
Drain the crockpot of juices. Put the wings back in the crockpot and them finish cooking, about another 2 hours.
Once they are cooked through, with no pink left, remove them from the crockpot. Mix the rest of the ingredients in a separate bowl. Add the wings in small groups into the bowl and cover with the seasoning mix.
Place them on a plate or baking sheet lined with foil. When you’re ready, serve them up and add a few extra basil leaves for garnish.
If you are running out of time, you can also finish baking them in the oven on a foil lined baking sheet at 400 degrees and then proceed to add the sauce when they are finished baking.
You will love these Parmesan Chicken Wings! The blend of flavors is mouth-watering and you will be going back for seconds. It’s the perfect pairing with a Red Baron Pizza and Edwards Frozen Pie for the Big Game! And, if you’re like us, a fun way to celebrate a birthday too!
